Most people say they want God to do something new in their lives.
A new opportunity.
A new season.
A new beginning.
A fresh start.
But have you ever noticed that when God actually starts doing something new, it can feel uncomfortable?
I think one of the reasons we struggle with new seasons is because they often require us to let go of old ones.
We like the idea of God opening a new door, but we do not always like walking away from the door that just closed. Even when we know God is leading us forward, there can still be a part of us that wants to hold on to what is familiar.
The children of Israel experienced this throughout their journey. God delivered them from Egypt, yet they often looked back and longed for what they had left behind. The problem was that they were so focused on the past that they struggled to embrace what God was doing in the present.
I think we can be the same way.
Sometimes we become comfortable with what we know, even when it is no longer where God wants us to stay. We pray for change, but when change comes, it stretches us. We ask God for growth, but growth often requires us to leave our comfort zones.
That does not mean we have missed God.
It may actually be evidence that He is moving.
One thing I have learned is that God rarely asks us to understand everything before taking the next step. More often, He asks us to trust Him.
When Abraham left his homeland, he did not know every detail of the journey ahead. When Peter stepped out of the boat, he did not know exactly how the story would unfold. They simply responded to what God was asking them to do in that moment.
New seasons require faith.
They require us to trust that God sees what we cannot see and knows what we do not know.
If you find yourself in a season of transition, uncertainty, or change, remember this: God is not limited by what is ending. He is already working in what is beginning.
Instead of focusing on what you are leaving behind, ask God to help you see what He is doing ahead.
The new season may feel unfamiliar, but that does not mean you are walking it alone.
God is already there.
What new season might God be asking you to embrace today?
